SIQA
was actively involved
in organizing Amnesty International letter writing marathon in Rustavi as a
partner organization of Amnesty International on December 11-14. Our volunteers invited human rights activists and local civic
society to join the international event showing support to victims of human
rights violations. During the three day letter writing marathon the following events were organized by SIQA:
- Thursday evening
with a human rights movie (December 11)
- Amnesty
International presentation with Brano Tichy (December 12)
- letter writing event
in high school no. 3 (December 12)
- presentation about
human rights and promoting Write for Rights Georgia 2014 in the House of
Justice (December 13)
- Write for Rights in
the SIQA office (December 14)
EVS volunteer from
Poland, Beata Gudz together with Tiko Logockaya from Rustavi gathered more than 328 signatures showing
support of those whose rights have been unjustly violated. During a three
day event more than 120 people signed letters to support
individuals.
When you write a letter during Write for Rights
2014, you can help change a life. By taking action on one or more of the cases
presented by Amnesty International, one can join hundreds of thousands of
others around the world in demanding that the rights of individuals are
respected, protected and fulfilled.
